Interested in attending a local burlesque show in your city?
Burlesque is historically considered a parody of culture, a literary genre, a sister of theater, and a fun form of variety entertainment. Read more at “What is Burlesque?”, “Why Do People Take Burlesque Classes?“, and “The Best Burlesque Websites.”
By curating a burlesque directory of intriguing Burlesque Shows, Troupes, Supper Clubs, Events, Productions, and Performers, the diversity of the industry can begin to be understood. This isn’t to be a comprehensive list of the Burlesque Industry, as numerous websites and even niche burlesque directories already exist.
Also note that this directory includes burlesque, pole dance, drag, sideshow, theatre, circus, BDSM & Kink, variety, and many other forms of nightlife events and productions specifically curated by Switchress Shay AuLait..

Jeezy’s Juke Joint was conceived out of a desire to create a space for Black performers to be seen and celebrated. After becoming enchanted with burlesque in 2009, with the artists and their stories, the glitz and glamour, and the freedom that came with creating her own artistic voice, Jeez Loueez began to seek out other performers of color. What she found was a lack of visibility. She knew of their existence but where were the inspirational trailblazers? Where was Brown Girls Burlesque? Harlem Shake Burlesque? Foxy Tann and the Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am’s and how could she elevate them? How could she ensure that the Black community could see their experiences reflected on burlesque stages? The answer was what Quilt Magazine has called, “the most important show of the year” Jeezy’s Juke Joint. What started off as a blog featuring Black performers, has transformed into a live weekend extravaganza.
